Dr. Graves' Bio

Richard H. Graves, DPM

Dr. Graves grew up in Long Beach and
attended Lakewood High School. He ran
track and cross country and graduated
with honors. He was part of a state
championship track & field team at Long
Beach City College before earning an A.S.
in physical sciences and transferring to
UC Irvine. At Irvine Dr. Graves earned
NCAA All-American honors in both track
and cross country and graduated with a
B.S. in Chemistry.

It was his involvement in athletics that
fueled Dr. Graves desire to become a
podiatrist. He attended the California
College of Podiatric Medicine in San
Francisco and was the valedictorian of
the Class of 1993. After completing his
podiatric surgical residency Dr. Graves
started in private practice in 1995.

Dr. Graves is Board Certified in foot
surgery and is a Fellow of the American
College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He
is also a member of the American
Podiatric Medical Association and the
American Academy of Podiatric Sports
Medicine. He works as the sports
podiatrist for UC Irvine.

Dr. Graves has two children and two
grandchildren. He still enjoys running and
you may see him out at the local 5K and
10K events. He is an active volunteer for
Special Olympics as a Clinical Director for
their Fit Feet program.
